A game concept by: Rojer Mustafa
Working Title: High Stakes: Dockside
Platform: PC/PS3/360
Genre: Racing
Target Audience: 12+
Brief story description
During every weekend at
midnight, the city dockyard becomes a playground for various groups of people
and their tuned up cars. Large groups of people meet up at the docks, the
entire area lit up by a sea of highlights and neon glow. The point of these gatherings
is simple. High stakes racing. As a newbie to the scene, you will have to race
your way up the top, to claim your right as top dog in this racing scene. As
you move up the ladder, bets will get higher, pressure will rise and it’s up to
you as to whether you succeed, or wipe out trying.
Brief Game play elements description
The player will be confined
to the dockyard area of an unnamed city, although every weekend the area may
change. Each weekend, containers and dockyard equipment may change location as
the docks are still used regularly in the daytime. New routes are formed using
the environment every weekend, giving a large variation of routes inside one
environment. Collision with the environment can cause considerable damage to
the player’s car or the opponent’s cars. With routes covering the whole
dockyard, driving near the edge of the dock beside the water is unavoidable, so
the player must take extra care not to drive in.
The player will have a
starting budget in which to spend on their first car and bet on their first
race. After this the player is required to constantly spend money on their car,
improving performance, visual looks and maintaining it so it doesn’t fail half
way through a race. After each race repairs may have to be made also. The
player may obtain a job for extra income during the week.
Races are organized via BBS
or E-Mail in-game during the week, with various opponents with differing
personalities, skills and car choices. Each opponent has a strong point and a
weak point, so it is up to the player to either take advantage or not, given
the situation. The amount the player can bet will be influenced by the
opponent’s preferences.
